A novel foaming technique to develop functional open‐cell polylactic acid scaffolds for bone tissue engineering

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of this study was to develop a solvent-free polylactic acid (PLA) open-cell porous scaffold for bone tissue engineering using compression molding and new chemical foaming compound, that we named CFCO. latter is composed blend PLA azodicarbonamide (ADA) as agent, with the addition chitosan-grafted (CS-g-PLA) copolymer at various concentrations. novelty approach during foaming, is, decomposition ADA CS-g-PLA projected toward surface pores strongly adhere there, which confirmed by scanning electron microscopy confocal microscopy. results showed 6.90 wt% copolymer, immobilization on led 52% increase in cell proliferation compared pure control sample 26% scaffolds had 10 dispersed throughout entire matrix.

Aligned and random nanofibrous nanocomposite scaffolds for bone tissue engineering

Aligned and random nanocomposite nanofibrous scaffolds were electrospun from polycaprolactone (PCL), poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (nHA). The morphology and mechanical characteristics of the nanofibers were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy and tensile testing, respectively. Scanning electron microscopy revealed fibers with an average diameter of 123 ± 3...

Polylactic acid-phosphate glass composite foams as scaffolds for bone tissue engineering.

Phosphate glass (PG) of the composition 0.46(CaO)-0.04(Na(2)O)-0.5(P(2)O(5)) was used as filler in poly-L-lactic acid (PLA) foams developed as degradable scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. The effect of PG on PLA was assessed both in bulk and porous composite foams. Composites with various PG content (0, 5, 10, and 20 wt %) were melt-extruded, and either compression-molded or foamed through...

A Review on Commonly Used Scaffolds in Tissue Engineering for Bone Tissue Regeneration

Introduction: Bone is one of the tissues that have a true potential for regeneration. However, sometimes the bone defects are so outsized that there is no chance of bone self-repair and restoration or the damage is such that it is not possible to repair with medical or surgical interventions. In these situations, bone grafts are the treatment of choice, but due to several obstacles, including l...

Novel Scaffolds Fabricated Using Oleuropein for Bone Tissue Engineering

We investigated the feasibility of oleuropein as a cross-linking agent for fabricating three-dimensional (3D) porous composite scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. Human-like collagen (HLC) and nanohydroxyapatite (n-HAp) were used to fabricate the composite scaffold by way of cross-linking. The mechanical tests revealed superior properties for the cross-linked scaffolds compared to the uncros...
